The World Wide Web is growing every day and 3 out of 4 households now have internet access, with this number growing every day. Small businesses are realising that they need a presence on the web and this coincides with a decline in the use of newspapers for sourcing local news. As newspaper sales decline, more and more people are turning to web sites like www.bbc.co.uk, www.yell.com and Thompson Local for their information. Although these companies are good for finding basic information, they are national companies trying to be local. The Directory for is a web site that’s run by local people who are interested in local issues and local businesses.

From only £5 per month local businesses can have a presence on the internet and exposure, on the web, to a community that is local to them. This is the community that really matters.

What do local businesses get?

The Directory for will provide them with:

1) Full web page with an unlimited amount of text to describe their local service
2) Their phone, fax and mobile numbers

In addition there is the opportunity to publish:

What are our aims?

Now lets talk money...

There are four main sources of income:

1) Standard advert - £5 per month
2) Advanced advert - £10 per month
3) Premium advert - £20 per month – your advert gets shown first in each category
4) Advert set up fee - £20 – (this is to help us create the text and take pictures for your site)

Now on average each town or city has over 20,000 businesses in the area. Remember that we are counting an electrician working from home and a company employing 1000's as a business. An electrician only needs 1 new customer in year 1 to recover his annual advertising costs. He could advertise in his local paper for 1 week for around £60 or more - the same as the cost of an advert in The Directory for for one year.

If you get 250 in your first year, 170 will pay for the standard advert and 80 will pay for a premium advert.

£850 per month for standard adverts (170 * £5)
£1600 per month for premium adverts (80 * £20)
£2450 per month total monthly income plus £5000 set up costs

By the end of year 2 if you achieve a total of 500 advertisers, you could easily double that.

By the end of year 2, if you achieve 500 advertisers you could easily be making £5000 per month just in monthly recurring payments.

Then there is sponsorship. Each service can be sponsored by a local business. The weather can be sponsored and this will provide you with additional income opportunities.

The possibilities are endless. Work out the figures for yourself. This concept is unique and has many extras that have never been provided to the local community before.

Businesses will want to be on the site because of all the local users. They will want the local community to come to them for local services. It’s a win/win situation.
